Mono Gallery is pleased to preset Ghaiaheb: In the Dark, a solo exhibition of new works by Muhammad Al Thagafi.
Created in 2021, this series of sculptures highlights a new experience in Muhammad Al Thagafi’s artistic practice as he engages in different modes of stone manipulation that push the boundaries of abstraction. Featuring 16 black marble sculptures, “Ghaiaheb:In The Dark” exhibition examines themes of duality & multiplicity within one’s own self, reflecting in turn the dichotomies of our environment and societal conditions – Good and Evil, Night and Day, Love and Hate, Happiness & Sorrow, Black and White – narratives that are consolidated within the representation of the body as a vessel for complex human energy. Through the collection, the artist seeks to create in-depth dialogues between materiality and meaning while inviting the audience to engage in the unfolding of hidden narratives.
